Programme Description :

The course will enable the students to understand the inter-relationship between Food, Nutrition and Health and understand the knowledge of food science and the changes occurring during food preparation. Students will learn the fundamentals of metabolic processes / pathways occurring in the body understand their significance be able to apply the significance of these processes to different physiological / metabolic conditions.

Programme objectives :

  • Understand the inter-relationship between Food, Nutrition and Health
  • Lay the foundation of biological chemistry.
  • Know nutritional aspects of foods and their functions.
  • Understand the importance and role of macronutrients in health
  • Understand the principles of Food Science and discuss the relation between Food Science and Nutrition

Programme outcomes :

  • Demonstrate, solve, and understanding of major concepts in nutrient calculations and Meal planning.
  • Create an awareness of the impact of health and nutrition on an individual and society. To reach out through participation in community outreach Programme.
  • Find out various ways of food entrepreneurship development.
  • Will have inculcated scientific temperament in the students through projects and surveys.
  • Learn newer techniques and handling of equipment in the area of food science and nutrition.
