Greetings and best wishes to my dear faculty, non-teaching staff and students! The academic year 2017-2018 has indeed been very significant year for Dr. B.M.N College. We achieved important milestones in our quest for excellence. In 2016-2017 we were awarded with the status of ‘College with Potential for Excellence’ from the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi. There were only 8 colleges that received this award in Mumbai in this round of selection, and we are proud to be included in this exclusive list. This year, we added two significant achievements namely the ‘Best College Award’ from SNDT Women’s University for 2016-2017 and NAAC grade of A+ with CGPA of 3.69/4 in the 3rd cycle. We are proud to share that we stood 3rd out of 116 Institutes at all–India level in this particular cycle of reaccreditation. This achievement could not have been possible without the strong support of our Management, dedicated staff and enthusiastic students. We place on record our thanks to the University authorities, our collaborating partners from the Industry and academia, and our alumina and parents. We acknowledge the invaluable inputs from Dr. Venkataramani K., Dr. S. Kumudhavalli and Dr. Vaijayanti Ranade who were part of the mock NAAC team on 9th Sept. 2017
We have had an eventful year with a number of achievements on the part of staff and students. I congratulate all of you for making the year a successful one. In keeping with our mission towards the empowerment of women, we organized two important seminars namely ‘Living with Dignity’ organized by the Dept of Human Development in collaboration with the Maharashtra State Women’s Commission on 6th and 7th March 2018, a Seminar on ‘Women Safety and Empowerment’ in collaboration with Rotary Club of Bombay East & North on 25th November 2017.
Our students brought laurels through their performances in the dance, literary and theatre events at the SNDT Yuva Mahotsav. We are particularly proud of Ms. Divya Pondge who participated in the National Republic Day Parade at New Delhi. She was the only student selected from Mumbai for the same. Our students have appeared on the merit list of their respective courses. We received a trophy from SNDTWU for maximum participation in sports events for 3rd year in a row. The M.Sc Department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, and the Department of Food Science and Nutrition continued to coordinate with AFSTI to conduct Nutrition Awareness activities including Nutrition week and health related events on the occasion of Women’s Day.
